How to Run a Staffless or Hybrid Gaming Lounge

The economics are obvious: extending opening hours without extending payroll. The question owners actually ask is 'how do I keep control?' The answer is that staffless operation is a spectrum, not a switch.
Level 1 is self-service ordering: customers scan a QR at the table, browse the menu and order food from their phone. Staff still approve and serve. This alone removes counter queues at peak hours.
Level 2 is hybrid sessions: a customer scans the PS5 station's QR, logs in with their mobile number and requests a session. Staff approve with one tap — from anywhere in the venue. Play starts, the light comes on, billing runs.
Level 3 is true staffless: prepaid customers with wallet or package balance start sessions without approval. The system enforces balances, auto-stops at zero (or at the end of a fixed 1-hour booking) and switches the hardware off. Overnight operation becomes realistic.
Two prerequisites make all levels safe: identity (mobile + OTP login tied to a wallet, so every session belongs to a person) and hardware automation (relay-controlled lights and power, so an unapproved session simply has no electricity).
Most successful venues run hybrid: staffed evenings, self-service afternoons, staffless late night. The mode should be a per-branch setting you can change any day — which is exactly how 8BallPOS implements it.
